Britney Spears’ Worrying Breakdown
The Strange and unpredictable life of Britney Spears took yet another change of course last night. The singer’s increasingly erratic behaviour has caught the interest of fans and media across the world in what appears a desperate cry for help.

Britney dashed to a Los Angeles hospital following an eventful weekend amid fears she could lose custody of her two sons, one-year-old Sean Preston and five-month-old Jayden James.
Lawyers representing estranged ex-husband Kevin Federline, believe they now have ample amount of evidence to assist in their custody battle, portraying Britney as an unfit-mother. Spears was filmed shaving her head in a Esther’s Haircutting Studio, Los Angeles, before moving on to the tattoo parlour, Body and Soul, where she reportedly had a pair of tattoo’s completed. Her closest friends fear the star is going through an extraordinary public meltdown. Her worrying transformation came on the same day entertainment media reported that Britney had checked into the Crossroads Clinic, a rehabilitation centre owned by Eric Clapton on the Caribbean island of Antigua. The singer had fallen to rock bottom following a four-day alcohol induced bender in New York. This particular drinking binge proved the catalyst for action after months of hard partying had left friends and relatives fearful of her current lifestyle. However, her stay in Antigua proved a short one, a mere 24-hours. Upon her return she briefly visited her two boys in Malibu before her now infamous hair and tattoo appointments. It was clear that Britney was in a dilapidated frame of mind between leaving rehab and entering Esther’s. She had been seen sobbing in her limo before the incident and it’s reported that the shocked hairdressers refused to shave off the singer’s locks. Salon owner Esther Tognozzi had attempted to talk her out of the decision; however, Britney remained adamant and took the clippers herself. Once all the hair was gone, she reportedly stated, “oh my god, I shaved it all off, my mom is going to be so upset with me.” The locks in question are to be sold on eBay on behalf of the Californian salon. Her Bic lighter and Red Bull are also to be sold for charity where bids of £500,000 have already been rumoured for her hair. Britney then left the salon, drove aimlessly around LA for nearly an hour before pulling up outside the tattoo parlour. Without any hesitation she spent $80 for a black, white and pink cross on her lower hip and also requested a set of pink lips on her wrist. Emily Wynne-Hughes, an employee at Body and Soul, was quoted as saying, “After she left, we said to each other, ‘we just saw a huge celebrity on the verge of a nervous breakdown.’ She wasn’t making sense at all and you could tell she’s not in a good place at all.” Like everything in her life, the incidents were played out in-front of the watching media. Crowds of passers-by had also gathered outside Body and Soul in the hope of catching a glimpse of the clearly erratic Britney. Britney Spears has been under the media spotlight since her early days at the Mickey Mouse Club, but after selling more than 70 million albums since her emergence in 1998, the former pop princess has experienced a dramatic lifestyle collapse. Her odd behaviour seems to coincide with her split from second husband, Kevin Federline. Their divorce was revealed in November last year and she seems to have attracted negative publicity ever since then. There was a time when little girls idolised her, however, Spears ditched her notorious clean-cut image by kissing Madonna at an awards show, and marrying a childhood friend for two days. Her position as a suitable role model has become questioned having been pictured last year driving with her baby on her lap and on one occasion nearly dropping Sean Preston in a dash to escape paparazzi. Her high profile friendship with Hilton heiress Paris Hilton and tabloid favourite Lindsay Lohan has left Britney with further criticism following a number of revealing encounters on a string of drunken nights out in Los Angeles. She became a fixture on the nightclub circuit since her divorce four months ago even collapsing in a Las Vegas nightclub at New Year after a lethal combination of champagne and cocktails The weekends events created mass hysteria surrounding the 25-year-old singer as both her website and her MySpace page faced overwhelming traffic, inundated with support for the troubled star. At the tender age of 25, two marriages under her belt and two children within 11 months, it’s clear that Britney has become another victim of the Hollywood lifestyle. Professor Cary Cooper an expert in actions brought on by stress explained, “She’s obviously quite a disturbed girl at the moment, she doesn’t know who or what she is. Partly, we created that, we take these young kids, and turn them into celebrities, but they don't necessarily have the infrastructure to help them deal with the pressures they are going to face."
