Kylie Minogue has started filming for a Christmas Dr. Who special in
Cardiff, but rumor has it that she may well become a regular as the Dr.’s new assistant to replace Freema Agyenan after her departure next year.
Programme's producers have announced that Kylie Minogue has signed a contract for an undisclosed period that will see her in multi-episodic Dr. Who productions fueling speculation that Kylie could be the next assistant for Dr Who.
The pop princess will join the main star of the science fiction drama, David Tennant, in an episode entitled, Voyage of the Damned.
Executive producer and lead writer, Russell T Davies, said he was "delighted and excited" the singer was joining the show's cast for the festive season but refused to comment on the rumors that Kylie might become a more permanent fixture on the set of Dr. Who.Welcoming Kylie's involvement he said "We feel very confident that this will be the most ambitious and best Christmas episode yet,".
Kylie is currently working on her tenth studio album, said it was "an incredible thrill" to be joining Doctor Who on one of his time traveling adventures. She added, "Doctor Who enjoys a unique history and it is going to be very exciting to be a part of that,"

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that Doctor Who is to gain a second assistant in the latest series of the popular show.
The time lord's existing sidekick Martha, played by Freema Agyeman, is returning for the fourth Doctor Who series but will not appear until halfway through the 13-week run due to the decision to also involve her character in the spin-off show Torchwood.
