The new Apple iPhone XR as it is known within the corridors of Apple Inc includes a biometric voice recognition system and an eye scanner. It has a flash memory bigger than some laptops and a built-in internet modem.

The unit is smaller than the current iPhone but it is also much slimmer and the screen has used the same technology as in the current model. It has an 8megapixel camera and is able to shoot hi quality video which will be able to be screened live to Apple’s new web TV – enforcing the possibility for multi-user live reporting.

Google has long been rumoured to be developing a mobile phone system that will be able to record and identify the users habits and that will be able to predict the users needs throughout the day depending on where they are.

Google has always said that it would not be entering the cell phone arena but recent reports suggest that they are close to closing a deal with advertisers to market the device which was patented last summer in the US.

Even though Google told the world last year that it had no plans of releasing its own hardware and would instead focus on the software side of cell phones, very few people actually believed the assertion.

For several months, the company has been tight-lipped about any hardware and has told anyone who will listen that Android will revolutionize the cell phone business. But Google is poised to release one of these devices by the end of 2008.

There is little doubt that the $ multi-billion mobile phone industry still has a very long way to go and there is set to be some big players entering the market place very soon. The mobile phone is evolving fast – watch this space!
