Children Give For The Children In Need! 

15th November 2005 BBC Children In Need – The Musical

 

They say that you should never work with children or animals, especially when it comes to TV.. Perhaps Blue Peter might have thought they’d got it all in the bag when they had the odd cat and dog on or even a group of budding enthusiastic young dancers on set..

But that was nothing on today’s achievement – never mind the cats or dogs, how about 10 ducks, 5 chickens, 4 sheep, 3 goats, a pig, 2 shetland ponies, half the pearly royal family,  300 children, several dance schools, some ambulance men, a pop group, some singers, a bunch of belly dancers, a model, a shed load of wonderful volunteers – oh and a bath full of baked beans!

Perhaps it was the fantastic weather, the interestinglocations, the spirit of the children or the talent of the director Benjamin Till that really rocked the world today, Penny Wrout had certainly chosen her crew wisely and together, the whole ensemble proved that miracles and musicals really can happen! 

Functionpix photographer Pascal Molliere was around to capture some of the unique moments that took place in the two different London locations. First in Spitalfields City Farm just off Brick Lane and afterwards in The Coram’s Fields near Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Day began bright an early and didn’t finish until well after dark but relentlessly and with precision timing, the children, the volunteers and the many hundreds of people who participated in the making of The BBC Children In Need – The Musical all came together today to give their time and energy for what is set to be one of the most exciting contributions yet to the television fund raising night coming to a tv near you this Friday.

Thousands of pounds has been raised by the people that took part today and as if that wasn’t enough, they all happily gave up their time to make this day a really fantastic occasion. All the images of the day are all here for you to see and buy and thanks to Functionpix, every penny raised will be donated to (who else?) BBC Children In Need of course!
